3 Tips to Avoid Weight Gain Over the Holiday Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Holiday season. Yep, this is the time where we tumble through a bunch of food-centric holidays back to back to back—Halloween candies, Thanksgiving feasts, Friendsgiving dinners, Christmas cakes, holiday parties and free booze, New Years Eve parties and more booze.

So you know what lots of celebrations and heavy meals spell right? The high potential for weight gain. That’s why today I am going to help you avoid the holiday fifteen with three tips to stay fit during the holiday season.

Take up a winter sport, you can read a fitness review to decide whether snowboarding or skiing is better for you, just don’t forget to layer up to avoid being cold or sick. You can always use alpaca fabric, like alpaca gloves for starters. Both sports torch calories, especially if you aren’t particularly good at them and fall over a lot. I would say snow tubing isn’t a sport and doesn’t really burn that many calories, but if it’ll get you out of the kitchen, go for it! Obviously, the time spent on the slopes will also take your mind off all the holiday treats you could be pounding. Plus, you will probably be exhausted after a day in the snow and want nothing more than to climb in your warm bed and doze off, instead of whip up a meal.

Go for a long walk after meals – Not only is this good for digestion but going for a walk will help to keep the pounds at bay as you burn off the calories you have just consumed. Also, getting out of the house and clearing your head means a lesser chance of nibbling on food that you definitely don’t need.
Intermittent fast – Since most of the heaviest meals around the holidays tend to be dinner, go light on breakfast and lunch or skip it all together so that you can enjoy your social holiday parties and family dinners without any guilt.

How to Avoid Bulky Legs From Bike Riding (Video)

Lots of riders get big quads from cycling alone

Lots of riders get big quads from cycling alone

So you have a bike and love riding it, but don’t love what it’s doing to your legs and thighs as much or the way your jeans aren’t fitting anymore?!

You are not alone or imagining it. Yes, bike riding can make your butt and thighs / legs and quads bigger – whether it be a result of temporary swelling, increased hunger (which leads to overeating and fat / weight gain), and if you ride your bike for exercise or for long periods of time, a higher likelihood of overdeveloped muscles.

Just take a look at many of the women who attend spinning classes (soul cycle or fly wheel), or amateur and professional road cyclists! Although they may not be obese, chances are their legs are a lot more muscular, developed or toned than you want yours to be (that is if you are reading this post… if not, ride on!).

Sure, a lot of these people work out and train their legs separately with heavy weights, but a good deal of them have built up their muscular quads solely from spinning without ever stepping foot in a gym!

So, you have every reason to be wary!

But that doesn’t mean you have to lock up your wheels and throw away the key. Believe it or not, it is totally possible to ride your bike without getting big, bulky thighs and quads – and today you’re in luck because I am going to give you the answers you have been searching all over the internet for.

If you want to know how to ride your bike without getting big, bulky legs and thighs / quads, there I reveal ten tips that you should follow when cycling in my video below).

If you follow my tips you can totally enjoy the freedom and joy of riding your bike without having to worry about it negatively affecting your physique (thigh width) and forcing you to buy a bigger pant size.

I specialize in helping women achieve lean, slim, svelte physiques that they find feminine and I’m happy to share how YOU can still maintain your body or body goals while experiencing one of the cheapest forms of transportation and greatest source of child like fun there is!

For more tips and strategies on how to slim down your legs, quads and thighs, check out my best selling books “The Thigh Gap Hack” or “Bye Bye Thunder Thighs” today!

Oil Free Sweet Potato Fries Recipe | Crispy, low calorie & Delicious

In honor of the release of my latest book, “The Oil Free Diet” (May 7th 2015) I have decided to post some of my favorite oil free (no added oil) recipes that didn’t make the book (the book has 30 recipes). The first one up is oil free sweet potato fries (you can also cut the sweet potatoes to make wedges or circles instead)

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Potatoes, peeled and evenly cut
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of Vanilla Extract
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon
  • All Spice
  • 5 cloves of Garlic
  • A pinch of sea salt

Directions:

1. Soak the sweet potatoes in a bowl of water from 35 minutes up to 2 hours. This will release the starch and is the secret to getting crispy fries

2. Drain the sweet potatoes, pat dry or allow to air dry and turn on the oven to 350 – 375 degrees Fahrenheit so that it can heat up while you add the seasoning.

3. Generously coat the potatoes with all of the spices and mix thoroughly with your hands so that all of the potatoes are evenly coated

4. Take a baking pan lined with parchment paper or non stick foil and arrange the sweet potatoes so that none of them are overlapping. If you don’t have non stick foil regular foil will do but you must be sure to keep on them and flip them before they stick)

5. Bake for about 20 – 30 minute before removing from the oven. Flip each fry / slice over and return to the oven for another 20 – 30 minutes.

6. (optional) If you like your sweet potato fries extra crispy, put in the broiler for 2 to 5 minutes making sure to watch them so that they do not char.

That’s it! You now have yummy sweet potato fries that are low calorie, crispy, crunchy, slightly sweet and incredibly satisfying! Never buy another bag of frozen sweet potatoes with weird additives again! Bon appetit!

You vs your Jeans – How women put on tight jeans Video

maxresdefaultYikes!

I’m sure the viral video (How women put on tight jeans) making the rounds on the internet has been shared hundreds of times because so many women can relate!

The struggle is very real (especially for my pear shaped ladies) and no amount of vanity sizing, which is the unstated theme of the video, is going to change the fact that you’re not the actual size you might want to be!

Sure, those jeans might say size zero but what do you care if when you see a woman who is a real size zero (wearing a 00) reminds you that you’re only deluding yourself? Do you still feel better about your body?

Look, I’ve been in the position of the woman in the video and I know firsthand that it doesn’t have to be this way! You don’t have to engage in a battle of epic proportions to slip into a pair of pants (only to have the thighs rub out in a few weeks or the back split open when you bend down). Don’t even get me started on the amount of butt cracks I’ve seen on women in my every day observations. It’s shameful and embarrassing! Not even plumbers sport butt cracks anymore and that was their thing.

The way I see it is you have one of three options

Option 1: Give in to the fact that you are not willing to do what it takes to lose the weight and buy bigger sized pants that fit. You’ll be doing everyone, including yourself, a favor!

Option 2. Become well versed on the clothing companies that cater to vanity sizing. Buy that size 24 waist jeans but when you’re thumbing through the rack and realize that in order for a size 24 to fit you, new sizes such as 00 and xxs are now options, you won’t be able to kid yourself for long. You also won’t be comforted by the fact that your body/shape is still not where you want it to be at the end of the day.

Option 3. Do something (like join the thousands of women who have bought one of my best selling books – The Thigh Gap Hack or Bye Bye Thunder Thighs) to lose the fat/weight so that you can buy the actual size you are proud to wear, whether that be a 2, 4 or 6, without giving yourself rug burn trying to scoot into your clothes on a daily basis… or buy the smallest vanity size and still feel great about the way your body actually looks in the mirror and to others.

5 Ways to Slim Down Big, Bulky or Muscular Calves

Screen Shot 2014-03-16 at 2.22.55 PM 1.05.38 AMI got the following message on my Facebook wall the other day regarding how to slim down muscular, over-toned calves

This is a common problem amongst many women, who find their calves are so big that it plays a huge role on their self esteem and makes them extremely self conscious. Not mention, buying jeans, boots and wearing high heels or clothes that show off the calves wind up being a complete disaster.

So, what do you do?

Well, I have never personally felt like my calves were too muscular, as I did with my thighs, however I did notice that when I lose weight doing the techniques outlined in my book, The Thigh Gap Hack, my entire legs slimmed down drastically… including my calves.

The calves are not so different than the thighs – they can both get too bulky and muscular for our taste, so I’ve decided to do a video response to this often asked question outlining 5 things you can start doing today to slim down your calves.

If you’ve ever dealt with this problem before, or found something that worked for you please share in the comments section. Watch the video after the jump!

Fat Burning Cardio Dance Workout – WATCH ONLINE FREE!

dubstep-cardio

Who says cardio needs to be boring and brutal?

The latest fat burning cardio dance workout with yours truly is up. This weeks choreographed workout routine is to David Guetta and Akon’s ‘Sexy Bitch’ or ‘Sexy Chick’… and it’s a little different because it’s a dub step version of the song.

The objective with these videos is to make cardio fun. When the music is pumping and it’s fun the time flies, you’re more likely to get your cardio in more frequently, and that means you’ll burn calorie/fat and see the results you seek.

Now, since I choreograph each workout to a specific pop song, they tend to be around 4 to 7 minutes long. Obvious-town, that’s not going to cut it when it comes to burning fat. You need at least 30 minutes of sustained physical activity that gets your heart rate up.

This means you’ll need to do this specific routine a few times over or combine a few of my videos together. I’ll take care of getting your heart rate up with every single one! Make sure you leave a comment on the youtube page or right here letting me know what you think of the workout and how many times you were able to do it through.

Leave song requests as well! NOW LET’S GET TO WORK!

New ‘Bikini Bridge Gap’ Cardio Dance Workout – Choreography

bikini-bridge-gap-workoutIt’s your favorite time of the week – the moment when I post a killer cario dance workout for you to sweat and have fun to.

This week, I’ve chosen to do the cardio dance workout choreography to Katy Perry and Juicy J’s song, ‘Dark Horse’ from Katy’s album PRISM.

The song is pretty short (approximately 4 minutes), however you will hate me at the end of this.

I mean, I think I even went a bit overboard. Your heart rate is going to be elevated THE ENTIRE TIME, and your body will have no choice but to burn through the stored body fat from all of those end of the year/new year parties you’ve been attending.

SIDE BAR: I’ve been to 3 birthday parties already for the new year. If you celebrated your birthday, consider this my present to you!

Also, have you been sticking to your new year’s goals so far? Tell me your top three goals for the year in the comments section below and I’ll pick one lucky commenter to give a surprise free gift to.

The entire workout video is after the jump, so click the read more button to watch it
